In this work , Evelyn (Evie) Anke presents a powerful and moving portrait of a tiger she knew, whose piercing gaze exudes a rare combination of power and vulnerability. Anke, known for her ability to give animals an almost human presence, uses precise color and contrast between the dark background and the tiger's fur to emphasize its mesmerizing beauty and the story it carries.
The drawing is made with colored pencils on reused paper and framed in a frame that was thrown away and given new life - reinforcing the statement about consumer culture and a connection to sustainability.
Her work is being sold as part of the " Artists for Marine Mammals " project, the proceeds of which will be transferred to the continued protection of marine mammals in Israel and educational activities at the Dolphin and Sea Center of the Delfis Association, in Ashdod.
Anka is a multidisciplinary conservation artist and primatologist, who has led projects at Plastic Free Israel, and has presented, among other things, the exhibition "Love, Death & Plastic" (sculptures and objects made from plastic waste collected in Israel) and the solo exhibition "Tales from the Amazon" (paintings on wood slices inspired by an encounter with tribes in the Amazon).
