"The painting was created in 2000 during my military service, inspired by a photo by the Japanese photographer Tsuneo Nakamura, which came into my hands. The painting was a turning point in my life, where I realized how much marine mammals inspire me, curiosity and amazement. I have been creating in various mediums since a young age, graduated from an art major in high school, and currently paint for my own enjoyment and for the enjoyment of friends and family." This is how Merav Hadari , a veteran volunteer at the Delphis Association and a member of the association's executive committee, describes the work she chose for the "Artists for Marine Mammals" fundraising project.
The pair of dolphins in the work are positioned at the center, floating in a kind of hazy, almost dreamlike space in the depths of the sea. The entire background merges with them, with a texture reminiscent of glowing plankton particles or filtered sunlight penetrating through the water. The painting conveys a sense of intimacy between the two creatures, and perhaps also an emotional message of closeness or protection.
The work is being offered for sale as part of the special fundraising sale, which is intended to ensure the continued activity of the Delphis Association for the preservation and protection of marine mammals in Israel, and to educate the next generation to love the sea at the "Dolphin and Sea Center" educational center in Ashdod.
