Maya Gold ( born 1978, Jerusalem) is a graduate of the Art Department at Bezalel and the Bezalel Continuing Studies Program in the Arts (2005). She is also currently a lecturer in the Art Department at Bezalel. Her works have been exhibited in solo exhibitions in Israel and abroad and are included in private and museum collections.
Gold is a Gottesdiener Prize nominee (2007), has won several awards and scholarships, such as the Ministry of Education's Young Artist Award (2014), and has participated in artist-in-residence programs in Berlin (2013) and San Francisco (2016).
This work is one of three iconic works by Gold, created almost 20 years ago - before the age of drones, at a time when overhead views were not as common as they are today. This perspective allows one to see the figures from the outside, from a distance, and at the same time feel close to them. It also allows for multiple meanings in the image.
Gold is offering this work for sale as part of the "Artists for Marine Mammals" project, the proceeds of which are dedicated to continuing the activities of the Delphis Association for the protection of marine mammals in Israel and instilling a love of the sea in the next generation, at the association's Dolphin and Sea Center in Ashdod.
